Is it Possible to Cut Sugary Foods From Your Diet?

It is essential to cut as much sugar as possible from your diet as many refined sugar products are extremely toxic to the body.

Products such as cakes, croissant, biscuits, white bread etc are full of refined sugar which is both addictive and indeed, a pollutant to the body. Such sugary foods and snacks can contribute to a breakdown of health, so you will be doing yourself a massive favour if you cut many of these processed refined sugar ladened foods from your diet.

Many people do look at the food labels today in their efforts not to eat too much processed junk foods. When the label include the following ingredients, know that product you are about to purchase will actually be full of refined sugar:

Dextrose, invert syrup, maltose, maple syrup, palm sugar
Molasses, treacle, sucrose, dextrin, fructose

This list is by no means exhaustive.

Dr Cleave formerly Director of Medical Research of the Institute of Naval Medicine in the UK noted that ‘there is one common factor in all traditional healthy diets: the absence of sugar and all simple carbohydrates’.

You have probably realised that sugary junk food is very hard to cut completely from your diet. This is because it is extremely addictive, which is why you crave that ‘chocolate fix’, biscuits, cakes and the like. You can strive to be ‘sugar free’ for many weeks and it only takes a couple of biscuits or some chocolate and once again, you find yourself in the grip of the ‘junk food nightmare’. Yep, I’ve been through it more times than I care to admit. Hence the term ‘yoyo dieting’ keeps us all in its grip!

You have to be really determined to cut sugary junk foods from the diet. After all we are conditioned to believe that these foods are a treat. What present to get for someone, yes chocolates. How to celebrate birthdays with work colleagues, yep cakes. When visiting friends or relatives, again chocolates. What’s the best Easter gift ‘ a ton of wonderful chocolate Easter eggs. The list goes on and on so don’t blame yourself if you find it hard to cut out the sugar stuff, from childhood we have been conditioned to see these foods as treats. Even though I know that chocolate is not good for the body I still see it as a treat. I guess some mental conditioning is simply extremely difficult to overcome.

However, it is essential you take control and cut your sugar intake to a minimum you will then find your health and body weight will benefit tremendously.

Raw Juiced Foods and How to Use Them to Support a Low Carb Diet

Faithful followers of low carbohydrate diets tend to eat an increased quantity of meat, chicken, fish and eggs. They also eat a quantity of vegetables daily along with a free ration of salads and a small quantity of nuts.

The problem with a low carbohydrate, low sugar but high fat and protein diet is that the foods become boring after while. Dieting is usually derailed through becoming bored; tired of eating the same old recipes each day, based on salads, salads and more salads.

The low carbohydrate version usually advocates the introduction of fried meats which makes it a little more palatable but still some innovation would not go amiss, especially when it comes to producing tasty accompaniments to an otherwise uninteresting plate of food.

A low speed juicer can produce nut butters; herb butters and juices that feature all the vegetables allowed on the free list. Use herb butters to melt over steak or fish to produce a completely different flavour. Try using the juicer to produce meatballs blended with garlic, herbs and mushrooms. Mix some saffron and paprika to the recipe to inject some interesting flavors and colors.

Use some of the vegetables on your free list to produce chilled soup. And try making ‘faux mashed potato’ by mincing a raw cauliflower, shaping it into patties and then gently steaming it. Add herb butter for extra flavour – it sounds awful but is truly amazing. Minced cauliflower in also great with fish and you can make a superb white sauce with fresh cream, herbs and butter. Try grinding almonds and use them to thicken soups and stews instead of the usual flour which is not allowed.

Make a breakfast juice from free list vegetables and use it to accompany an omelette filled with a small amount of cheese or mushrooms or a combination of leftover vegetables. On such a breakfast even the hungriest of dieters would not be able to muster an appetite until lunchtime: the high protein acts as an appetite suppressant.

Make a thick paste with vegetables, including spinach, cauliflower, cabbage and broccoli and then mix the paste with minced fish. Add some chilli, ginger, pinch of ground almonds, lemongrass and garlic and shape into patties. Gently fry them in butter and you will have fantastic Thai fishcakes you can eat with – dare we mention it – salad!

To provide a burst of energy, juice some wheatgrass early in the day and drink it on an empty stomach. You do not need more than a small ‘shotglass’ of wheatgrass to make a noticeable difference to your energy levels and help reduce your appetite throughout the day.

Juicing is becoming an art form and there is no doubt that becoming an expert juicer provides excellent support for a low carbohydrate diet. Start with purchasing a good quality juicer and also introduce some healthy supplements to give your low carbohydrate diet some acceleration and spice up some tasty recipes.

If you are considering a healthier lifestyle, start with a single gear juicer. I recommend the Samson Juicer from Purely Juicers. If you prefer a twin gear juicer try the Omega Juicer

Shifting from one food to another involves more than taste, it involves satisfying hunger. You need to feel less hungry with the new food.
Volume of food needs to be increased or maintained. Never change one product for another if it means eating less.Substituting a bag of chips for one apple will not do it at all. If your bag of chips is 1000 calories you need to eat many apples. One medium apple is 75 calories. You need to eat 13 apples to replace the calorie content of your bag of potato chips. If you do not, you will be hungry. Try eating 13 apples one after another.
Substitute half of what you drink by water. Do not drink less just drink smart. Dieting means having to do without, this is not about dieting.
Eat more often, yes eat as soon as you are hungry. Always have food around you to relieve the hunger.

Fat Burning Diet – Best Fat Burning Foods for Faster Fat Loss

There are currently a countless number of diet pills and weight loss programs available in the market today. All of them will guarantee specific results to a point that the competition has almost gone down to which one has the better marketing strategy. However, what a lot of people don’t realize is the importance of both regular exercise and a healthy diet if you want to achieve optimum weight loss results.

Although some diet pills don’t actually require exercise, it is still a fact that having some sort of physical activity will surely provide numerous health benefits, aside from helping you lose weight.

Equally important is to watch what you eat. Diet pills and weight loss programs can only do so much and if you continue to have unhealthy eating habits then it is likely that these products just won’t work. It is likely that you’ve grown tired of hearing the health benefits of fruits and vegetables so instead of boring you with this, here’s a list of the less commonly known fat burning foods that will definitely help you lose fat at a faster rate.

Beef Up

Yup, you read it right. Beef – the grass-fed variety at least – actually has quite a number of fat burning and muscle building properties. The most common types of beef you’ll find in the supermarket are products of grain-fed cows that offer little nutritional value. However, grass-fed beef is packed with omega-3 fatty acids and reduced levels of omega-6 fats (which is the unhealthy kind of fat). Aside from other crucial vitamins and minerals, grass-fed beef also contains a significant amount of conjugated linoleic acid or CLA which is essential in burning fats and the development of muscles. So the next time you’re in a grocery store to buy beef, be sure to pick the grass-fed variety.

Amazing Avocados

Another “fatty food” that actually has some of the most effective fat burning properties is avocados. This fruit is packed with antioxidants, fiber, and healthy fats which has the ability to control you appetite and induce the body’s fat burning hormones.

What’s great about avocados is that they taste good and that it is very easy to incorporate them to your daily diet. Some people add avocados to almost everything they eat – from their morning eggs to their dinner salads.

What’s Up, Yolk!

It is a fact that egg yolks contain significant levels of cholesterol and fats. However, what you don’t probably know is that they are actually beneficial to your quest to burn more fat. The cholesterol present in egg yolks raises the body’s good cholesterol so that it reaches a balanced fat ratio. Moreover, you can choose to buy eggs that are cage-free or those that come from hens that are free to roam around the farm. Studies show that these types of eggs have higher levels of omega-3.

This goes beyond stating the myriad of health and nutritional benefits of egg yolks. Even Rocky gulped down a couple of egg yolks in the morning. Whatever helped a world champion shouldn’t be all bad, right?

Low Cholesterol Foods Groups – Proven Foods That Reduce High Cholesterol

If you are serious about reducing high cholesterol levels without having to use statin medication, then it will be helpful for you to understand the low cholesterol food groups, and the type of benefit that they can provide for you.

The best low cholesterol foods are going to be found in plants. Here are the four primary types of foods that you will want to be looking for.

1.) Vegetables-Spinach, brussels sprouts and broccoli are some of the best foods for reducing cholesterol. A diet that emphasizes these foods will be the most effective for bringing down high cholesterol readings.

2.) Fruits-This food group also contains very effective low cholesterol foods. Fruits actually works to lower cholesterol because of their high fiber content. One word of warning is in order here though. Most fruits have a very high glycemic index, meaning that they contain high amounts of natural sugars that can lead to cravings while you are dieting.

Look for those fruits that are low in sugar content such as Granny Smith apples. Low glycemic fruits make a great snack instead of reaching for a bag of chips.

3.) Nuts-There is much misinformation surrounding nuts out there. When it comes to reducing high cholesterol levels nuts contain both high amounts of fiber as well as plant sterols, both of which have been shown effective for reducing high cholesterol.

The high fat content found in nuts is actually beneficial for balancing out cholesterol levels. This is due to the high concentrations of omega-3 fatty acids that are found in nuts such as walnuts, almonds pistachios.

The connection between flax seed and cholesterol lowering is also one that has been proven. Look for creative ways to add this tiny seed to your diet.

4.) Whole Grains-Grains such as oats are powerful cholesterol lowering foods. Try a breakfast consisting of a bowl of oatmeal that has crushed walnuts mixed in.

These low cholesterol food groups make up essential ingredients to a cholesterol lowering diet. I encourage you to visit my website where I discuss the best diets, foods and other natural steps you can take to lower high cholesterol.

Thermogenic Foods – 5 Foods That Burn More Calories to Digest

Conventional wisdom has always been that whether you gain or lose weight day-to-day and year-to-year is simply a matter of computing total calories consumed minus total calories burned. This is a pretty easy formula and makes logical sense.

However, increasingly researchers are recognizing the role of the personal metabolism rates of each of us in terms of how – and how fast – we burn calories. It seems that different people have different resting metabolism rates. This simply refers to how fast we burn calories when we are not in motion, such as when sitting and sleeping.

Furthermore, it has come to light through research that there exist a number of thermogenic foods – foods that actually burn more calories to digest than they provide the body when eaten. These foods have been shown to actually increase your metabolic rate. They are a highly-recommended part of any diet whereby the person wants to lose weight faster than with diet and exercise alone.

If you are looking for a list of thermogenic foods, here are 5 foods to speed up your metabolism:

1. Celery:

Celery is one of those wonderful foods that actually burn more calories to absorb and digest than it supplies to the body. Celery is easy and fun to eat, and most people find that it has a mild and agreeable taste. Try it with a low-fat yogurt dip.

2. Chili sauce and mustard:

Spicy foods like chili peppers, chili sauce, hot salsa and mustard have actually been shown to speed up your metabolic rate by up to 25%. That’s exciting news because it means that these spicy treats actually help your body burn away the other foods you are eating with them much faster.

3. Cayenne pepper:

Another spice that really works well as a thermogenic food is cayenne pepper. Adding this in sufficient quantities to your food can speed up your metabolism by up to 20%, according to the Oxford Polytechnic Institute.

4. Ice water:

Drinking water can actually help you burn more calories, too – especially if it is ice water. Ice water is helpful because, due to its cold temperature, it requires more work for your body to process; your body has to heat up the water as it processes it. If possible, avoid drinking ice water with meals since it can dilute your digestive enzymes.

5. Green tea:

Green tea is a favorite morning and afternoon drink in countries such as Japan, but also increasingly in the West. Research has shown that the cannatic extract and gymnemic acid in green tea reduce the absorption of sugar into the blood. It also inhibits the action of amylase, which is a digestive enzyme which helps the body process carbohydrates – a leading cause of weight gain.

Consider these 5 thermogenic foods as you as an additional way, besides the right diet and exercise, to lose weight faster.

Good Cholesterol Foods – Amazing Foods That Support Healthy Cholesterol Levels

If you’ve recently been informed that you have high cholesterol, then you will want to make yourself aware of the wonderful good cholesterol foods that have scientific evidence behind their ability to support healthy cholesterol levels.

You see, the typical American diet that contains high amounts of saturated fats is responsible to a large extent for the epidemic of high cholesterol that we have today. Many drug manufacturers would have you think that the best way to reduce your high cholesterol levels is through the use of statin medication.

However, what you don’t hear much about is the fact that food that lowers cholesterol is abundant and has scientifically been proven to be extremely effective. Some individuals have found that by increasing the amounts of good cholesterol foods that they eat, they are able to reduce their high cholesterol more effectively than what medication can do for them.

Food that lowers cholesterol is primarily high fiber foods such as vegetables, fruit, whole grains and nuts. The effectiveness of these high fiber foods has been proven over and over again. This is due to the fact that cholesterol attaches itself to fiber in the intestines, so that it is eliminated before it has a chance to be absorbed into the body.

Another benefit of a high fiber diet is that it actually stimulates the liver into absorbing cholesterol from the blood stream. I like to describe dietary fiber as a two edged sword because of these two ways in which it helps reduce high cholesterol.

It is important though that you do not eliminate all fats from your diet in your attempt to reduce cholesterol. Healthy fats such as those found in flax seed, many grains and various types of nuts are essential to your health and will not raise blood lipid levels.

In reality, the vast majority of Americans will never face problems with their cholesterol if they are consistently consuming a diet that is rich in this food that lowers cholesterol. I encourage you to visit my website where I discuss in more detail the most effective foods for reducing high cholesterol levels.
